Known as the King Charles Spaniel in Britain, this is a very old breed represented in European Court paintings from the 1600's. Having lived so long in the lap of luxury, they will expect to be spoiled. My primary interest in owning ETS is first as companions and second for the sport of competing in Conformation Dog Shows. I breed only to continue and improve on the qualities of the dogs inwhich I have invested and thereby for the overall improvement of the breed. A small gene pool in the U.S. is cause for concern and careful selection of the best show dogs from the best lines are the only representatives of this, or any breed, which I believe should be bred. And then only as needed to improve the genetic base and provide happy, healthy, loving companions. I am acquainted with many other ETS breeders across the U.S. and we generally refer people to whomever has puppies or dogs to place in the interest of matching our cherished English Toy Spaniels with the best homes possible. This is a sweet and loving breed, weighing 8 - 16 pounds and living a healthy 10 - 12 years on average. Their uniquely round heads are distinctive among dog breeds and they should have the appreance and movement of any sprightly spaniel from the ears back! Being owned by an English Toy Spaniel is a real privilege!
