Looking for a MINIATURE BULL TERRIER breeder. I am looking to touch bases with someone. I hve only been able to touch bases with a couple of breeders down in CA. Is there anyone up north or in Canada that breeds. We will be looking for a pet quality one at some point in the future. I used to show standards as a teenager. We don't feel that a standard sized one is right for our family. A mini is a much better size and would be perfect. I am completely aware of health and temperment issues. I basically want to know our dogs "Family" inside and out before we buy him/her. We fully expect to have to wait for the right pup to be born. We are not particularly interested in conformation but plan on doing obedience and possibily agility. Now don't laugh to hard on that one. It can be done, I've talked to one breeder in CA who is working on it. Hey it wouldn't be fun if it was to easy. Please feel free to contact me. Thanks!
Please enter us in you ad section. "We are a hobby kennel that breeds quality Labradors in the old English style. Health and soundness are the only thing we put above temperament. We breed to improve our breed and to produce typy conformation Labs, family/hunting partners and all around family companions. We breed occasionally and have adults and older pups at times. We do Lab rescue and have an online company to help LabMed. We are located in Salem Oregon. Contact Sandy Metcalf" "Your statement about seeing both parents in person, Would more then likely lead you a BYB then a reputable hobby show breeder. Most of us shop out for stud dogs that will bring into our bloodline and our girls what we need. If we were forced to only breed our own males to our bitches we would quickly run out of new DNA and nor would we always be getting the best match for what we wanted, both to improve or bring up in our own girls or what we were hoping to achieve with the litter. To tell people to see both parents is fine if they are present, but very few breeders keep and breed their own stock exclusively. Tell them to see our older dogs/pups check our references, that is how you judge a breeders quality, Not seeing face to face both the sire and the dam. My current litter I shipped my bitch to Canada to be serviced by the #2 conformation Lab in Canada for 96-98. While you can see pix of Mac and I can show people his web site, I can not present them with a living breathing dog. Had I bred local, or to a dog of my own. I would not have produced what I set out to produce. I would have had a fine litter, But I ONLY breed to produce a WONDERFUL litter not just a fine one.Food for thoughtTake care Sandy Metcalf French-Vanila Labradors

My husband and I have an eight month old Chocolate Lab. She is a pure bred. We are debating whether to get her "fixed" or breed her one time when she is old enough. Should we breed or shouldn't we? If we decide not to breed, how old should she be before she is "fixed"? Also, she has been a good dog until lately when she has started to chew up everything in sight. She chews shoes, door frames, carpet, etc. We keep things out of her reach, but somehow she manages to knock something down or so on to get what she wants to destroy. Why is she starting this now? We've had her since she was 7 weeks old.
Smokey's Helping Paws Foundation, is in the process of being set up to train Service dogs and Also to get a law in Canada which we do not have right now. This is the first school of its kind here in Alberta. We still have alot of ground to cover but we will get our legal rights here in Canada and then we will be protected. If you would like more info please contact me.
Hello: I presently own two Irish setters. In particular, I have a beautiful 9 1/2 month old Irish male, Copper Tabasco Rogers, who is registered with American Field Publishing. His father, Hill's Red Dog is likewise registered with AFPC, while the dame, Kelsey XV is registered with AKC. Many people have suggested I use Copper for breeding stud. I have had no experience with these matters and thought I would do some Internet research to see if such a dog would be in demand. I am not interested in becoming a "kennel", per say. However, this dog is an excellent (and I don't use this term loosely) field/pointing dog. This is his first pheasant season, and he has really come on strong. He holds his own point until command, and will back solidly the point of his 3 year old half sister, Duchess Sofia Rogers....(same sire; different dame). It seems to me that a beautiful looking dog that has such fine hunting skills (must be from the sire side since Duchess is great in the field, too), would be in some kind of demand for stud. Since we live in the north west corner of Washington, just across the border from Vancouver, perhaps there are other setter owners who might be interested in Copper for stud. If you happen across anyone, please pass on my name and info to them. Thanks, Leon Rogers Vox: (360) 332-3278, Fax: (360) 332-3279 email: leon_rogers@fastmultimedia.com

We're considering adopting a male thoroughbred jack daniels terrier approximately 2 years old. We have a cat which has become used to visits by a female german shorthair dog owned by our daughter and her husband. Question: What generally is the breed's temperment toward adults and babies? Is their breed high strung or easy going under normal circumstances? The animals, both cats and dogs, for which we have cared have always lived long and enjoyable lives. We don't want to cause a problem for our cat and we certainly don't want to take on a pooch that will be driving us nuts. We do realize training is the key to how an animal behaves. We also realize that some breeds a more high strung than other breeds. I'm looking for comments by owners of jack daniel terriers that would help me better understand the breed. Thanks in advance.

I have a 5 year old son with Asperger's Disorder. He really wants a dog. We thought a corgie would be a great dog. Does anyone have any comments on this and does anyone know of a reputable corgie breeder in the Phoenix area?

We are currently re-locating to the Dallas, Tx area (north/northeast side of Dallas) and would appreciate anyone contacting us who might have knowledge of dog-friendly landlords willing to rent to RESPONSIBLE "dog-people". Currently have two Whippets and two Borzoi. Two of these are temporary residents (client dogs). I am also hoping to hook up with good trainers in both obedience and agility there. Thanks, in advance, to anyone who has any leads for us. :)
scott and ruth, try scheduling an hour away from your greyhound every day at the exact same time. make sure he is well exercised and tired before you go. gradually increase the time away. when you come home say hi but don't make a fuss. never comment on anything your dog may have done while your gone. this will add to the anxiety!!
Hello. My wife and I recently adopted a 3 year old ex-racing Greyhound. We have had him just a little over a month and are becoming more and more concerned about his seperation anxiety. He exhibits all of the normal symptoms but is starting to chew and destroy things:( Just yesterday he completly destroyed wood shutters in our bedroom. They looked as though a beaver had chewed them to pieces! I work from home, so there is always someone here to be with him, however, we both have to leave sometimes. Except for this behaviour he is an ANGEL! We couldn't have asked for a sweeter little guy. We are sticking with him through this issue, but would love to hear how others have gotten through this. We adopted our guy from GPI and will be contacting them as well. We welcome all feedback. Scott and Ruth Wilson wilson@nwlink.com
Hi - need some help! I am the CEO of the International Federation of Guide Dog Schools for the Blind - there are 72 schools worldwide. What I'm looking for is UK quality laptops/notebooks for our very, very, very, small schools in South America, Asia and Africa - none at present have computers and want to undertake distance learning on dog training/rehabilitation of blind with them -- could be new/reconditioned or simply secondhand. They must be donated free of charge. Help! Does anyone have any contacts who could help? Could supply list of Schools from countries needing a machine if you wish. Many thanks all who read this! Regards, Jenny Beasley, CEO
I need ideas to try and stop a horrible publicity campaign the media is carrying out in Spain, there have been a few dog atacks, two dead people unfortunately, people are panic stricken and the goverment is trying to forbid many breeds. I don't think this will solve the problem. I don't believe in "Dangerous Breeds" only in innadequate owners. I have an Argentine Dogue and I'm even being insulted when I take her for walks. If anyone can give me ideas or send me the regulations of other countries, I would really appreciate it.
I am in the process of gathering info for building a small boarding kennel. I would appreciate any ideas or opinions for construction plans and layout. What type of flooring is best used in the runs? What is the best setup for cleanup and disposal of feces? Type of indoor heating?.....
I have a female red nose thats just turning a year old. I got her mainly for breeding and protecting the house. she has always been good around kids and other people and animals until her first heat ( 8 months old). Now she's growld at my girlfriend twice, nipped my nephew, and has bitten my new puppy at least four times. She is apart of my family and I have a tough discision to make. Why has she become so aggressive. Is this a phase that she is going through or should I not try to raise a Rott and three kids around her? These incidents only happen when I'm not in her presence. She is overly friendly which makes it difficult to say that she's a mean dog. I need some advice from someone who might have been there or who knows what's going on............... maurice
I have a beautiful male Brindle Bullmastiff "Jake". I have accepted a position in my firm that will take me out of the country and I have to find a good home for my "Jake" Any suggestions from anybody would be most appreciated.

My boyfriend (of 1 1/2 months) and I both have 3-year-old dogs. Mine is a greyhound/lab mix (Winfield), his is a cocker spaniel (Manny). Manny barks & cries incessantly. We can't even go out, because we can't leave him alone at either of our apartments for fear of being evicted due to the barking! Someone can be right there looking at him, and he still whimpers (if he is in his kennel). In addition to the barking & crying, Manny has an affinity for urinating inside. Winfield doesn't do this & never has, but I'm afraid that Winfield will feel a need to start reclaiming things soon. (Winfield is neutered - Manny is not) Any suggestions???
I don't know if any of you guys are aware of it but the government of Prince Georges County,Maryland is being very obnoxious to Pit Bulls and their owners. The politicians paid overtime to their police officers to round up all of the Pit Bulls that were running around loose. That sounds great until you learn that the politicians created the problem in the first place. They ordered the police to do house to house searchs without warrants, enter peoples' yards, leave the gates to fences open, cut the chains off of the dogs, and turn them loose. One police oficer forged a woman's name on a consent form when she didn't give him permission to search her property. As all of you already know, this is a complete violation of the 4th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It also violates the property rights provisions of the 5th and 14th Amendments. The state constitution of Maryland is also being violated. After the police rounded up 42 dogs, the government planned to put them to sleep even though the dogs hadn't bitten anyone. The American Dog Owners Association has filed a lawsuit to stop this crazy nonsense. There is also a proposed ban on Pit Bulls in Washington,D.C. Adrianne Lefkowitz is one of our directors in ADOA and she is leading the fight against both of these breed bans. Her e-mail address is EUNIVERZ@aol.com. Please send her an e-mail letter and give her any assistance that you can provide. I'm a member of ADOA and I'm trying to get more dog owners to join ADOA because we really need to have more of them. They will need to be registered voters. Kids can also join. It doesn't matter which breed of dog that a member owns because any dog can bite. If one breed of dog can be banned, then any breed can be banned because the government can simply amend the law. Dogs can also be banned by weight and the goveernment can lower the weight limit at any time. ADOA's address is 1654 Columbia Turnpike,Castleton,NY 12033. The telephone number is 518-477-8469 and the fax number is 518-477-4043. The URL is http://www.global2000.net/adoa. Membership for a single individual is $15.00 a year and it is $25.00 for a married couple. If you don't live in the USA, please add $5.00 for shipping.

My dog (Golden retriever)is now 2 years old and she has recently started chewing up things around the house. She has not done this type of thing since she was a puppy. Do dogs get new teeth at this age? If anyone has had a similar experience or knows what would cause this type of behavior please write me at backnbowl@aol.com.
I have a breeding question?? My male sheltie age 1 yr does not seem to know what he is doing with the female. She will be at day 12 tomorrow and he trys to mount everything but where he is supposed to. I keep them locked up together, but really don't know if they have connected or not. Second question, is my female age 2 1/2 seems to be throwing up all of a sudden. Is there a reason for this. Do dogs get morning sickness? Please help.. :)
I am researching a breed called the Hungarian Hound or Transylvanian Hound. They are also refererred to as the Erdelyi Kopo. I find the breed has qualities I am looking for but I am concerned about how the breed would do with a single owner who would not be avaliable 8 hours everyday. I also am concerned about confining the dog to a yard alone during that period of time. Any insights and experieneces you can share would be appreciated. I am looking for a kennel where I can see and get know and possibly purchase the Hungarian Hound.

Wanting to know if anyone can tell me if I bought a female Lab (AKC) with a white spot on it's chest, would I be able to breed this dog later on after hips/eyes, 2yrs, etc..or would this feature alone not allow me to breed her? I want to maintain a high quality breed, is this some sort of defect? She's a sweet girl with a good personality. Anyone that can help, I would appreciate it.
My husband and I are well-educated people, but were unaware of the dangers associated with allowing dogs to travel in an open-bed pickup truck or with their heads hanging out the car window. This past weekend, on our way to the lake, my husband was riding in the bed of our pickup truck with both our dogs on leashes, when one was knocked over the side of the truck. Although she has some bumps and bruises, she will be fine. She was lucky! These accidents are more common than you would think. What would happen if someone back-ended you? Your dogs cannot hold onto anything to keep from being thrown from the truck. What if he sees a bicyclist or another dog alongside the road? Can you be sure your dog won't leap out of the truck? Even if you tie your dog down to pickup truck bed (there is an item sold in pet stores for this purpose), if your dog went over the side of the truck she could be hanged or dragged along the road. Had someone made me aware of these dangers, I would have been more careful! The only safe ways to travel with your pet are with them inside the car (with the window only partially down so they cannot stick their head out) or in a crate secured to the pickup truck bed.

I own a Ridgeback-mix. I got her from the pound when she was 7 months old. She is now almost 6. She loves people (a lot) but she is not good with other dogs, unless she knows them well. She will fight, and she won't let go once she has a good hold. As a result it is not possible for me to let her off the leash, ever. Also, the only way for me to have her around other dogs is with a muzzle and on the leash. Clearly she was poorly socialized. Is there anywhere that I could take her to be around other dogs in an effort to socialize her at this point in her life? We live in the freater Washington, DC area. Thanks

Our family has a four and a half year old, female sheltie named K.C. We've had her since she was three months old. K.C. is a loyal and intelligent dog. However, she's a big time barker. This barking has worsened since our seventeen month old daughter was born, but they love each other dearly. It seems to be getting harder and harder to make her stop barking once she's started, especially when she's outside. If anyone has some advice for us it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Erika
I have just resently aquired a new male dog not neutared. My exsisting male continues to provoke fights with this new dog. We have made it a point to continue to give our old dog the same amount of attention and we feed them in seperate areas. If you have any suggestions on what we can do to resolve this conflict please feel free to mail me.
I am putting together a book about how wonderfully goofy our canine pets are--sometimes even darnright stupid. If you (or any who visit your site) have such a story or an incident and would like to have it considered as part of this book (which I am sure will be a best seller), contact me with the story. (I am a well published writer who, of course, loves his dog--in my case, an American Cocker Spaniel, Gilbert.) All contributions will be acknowledged in the book. Thanks in advance! gkblank@uvic.ca
I have been a professional dog groomer for over 25 years. I have vast experince in both behavioral and ob. I have researched and studied most all breeds. I can give postive feedback if needed.

Hi! Just surfed on in for a computer project. My dog, Joy, a lhaso-apso/terrier mix, looks like a rat-dog now! This person shaved her beard off! When you take your dog in for a bath, be sure to tell them SPECIFICALLY the type of haircut you want for your dog! FYI. Have a nice day!!!
Is there anyone/organization in Ohio that rents out lure coursing equipment or perhaps a place where I could pay for a couple of runs for my mixed breed female, Janis??? A couple of years ago, Janis had a blast at a living history event- A couple had set up their equipment, showing their retired greyhounds and gave a demonstration-Janis was so excited by all of the action, I asked the owner of the equipment if she could try it. After initial reluctance,he said "ok", and she actually caught up to the lure- I didn't know at the time if that was the goal or not-but I was quite proud and Janis had fun:) I do not remember their equipment being engine powered -like all the things for sale on the net. I have a feeling that might be why Jan was so successful- Either way, I'd love for her to be able to try it again before I spend $$$ on equipment for her. Any info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED-Thank you, Eleanor P.S. Realizing that Jan is not a purebred, and will never be able to catch a European hare at speeds of 50 mph, I'm interested b/c I want her to have fun and perhaps eventually, be able to take her rabbit hunting-she has a high prey drive
Our family is interested in buying a dog. We have researched breeds and are interested in either a Bishon Frise or the Havanese or a Boston Terrier. Anyone out there is cyberland own these dog breeds and can give us some advise as to which breed is better suited to our family. Kids are all grown, lave large yard, both work fulltime, have lab outside. How much should be be expected to pay for such a dog. We do not intend to show this dog. We would like to come by car so not too far away. We live in NW Iowa.
I am a Sheltie enthusiast who participates in agility, herding, obedience, and once in awhile conformation. I am very interested in holistic and wellness for humans and pets. I am a registered AHT, medical laboratory technician, and have worked in the health care industry in some capcity for over 20 years. Recently I have become very involved with using magnetic and far-infrared technologies on myself and my Shelties. I have an older blue female who was slowing down but seems revitalized by the massages with the magnetic unit I use. A male of mine was diagnosed with Pancreatic Insufficiency and cant digest his food without expensive enzyme intervention. He has made remarkable improvements after sleeping on a combination magnet/farinfrared pad. I would love to dialog with other sporting folks who are interested in or may have tried these technologies.
I have a 3yr old cocker spaniel that is very aggressive. He constantly bites people even after being scolded. I've tried training him but with no success. Some people have advised me to neuter him. Will this change his bad temperament problem?
I have a year old vizsla that is full of energy and mischief I've never experienced a puppy like this. She has a sweet personality, but is constantly in trouble. Is this a common trait or did I just get lucky? Any suggestions?
I've got two german shepherddog and one shiba. I would like some friends all over the world.
I need help finding a positive reinforcer trainer for my 6 month old rottweiller. any help will be greatly appreciated!!

My silky terrior has occasional seizures and a bad stomach I would like to make him my own food. does anyone know where I can get receipe for homemade dog food?
Re Jake's scratching. Afraid i can't help you with the diagnosis but a word of warning. I have a 14 yr old dog with skin problems. The vet advised steroids - which we did for about 6 months. But they ended up causing diabetes in him - apparently a high dose is ok but they should only be given to an animal every other day - not every day!! - which is what caused the diabetes. you probably know this but i wouldn't like to see this happen to another good dog (and owner)!
I have a 4 1/2 yr old male Boxer, Jake, who has a severe skin allergy of some sort. I got him from a co-worker who had to give him up due to new baby. His vet suggested lamb and rice diet, prednazone and sulfoxydex. His condition would normally go away in the winter but it hasn't since I've had him this year. My vet tested him for thyroid condition, diagnosed hypothyroidism and prescribed Soloxine .6mg-1 1/2 tabs twice daily but it hasn't helped. Before we changed from 1 tab to 1 1/2 his skin cleared up for about 2 weeks then got progressively worse again. I'm about ready to try another vet if the next visit doesn't go any better. She says Boxers are prone to thyroid conditions, this is my third Boxer, first with thyroid problems. Are ther any other Boxer or other breed owners who have dogs suffering this way? He's a really good dog and I hate to see him suffer with the constant scratching. Is he destined to be on prednezone forever? Is that OK or bad for his system? He has been neutered, by the way. PLEASE HELP! Jake and I thank you!

I am the proud owner of a wire haired Fox Terrier named Rusty. We live in New York City. I have heard of places in the country that are built specifically for wire haired Fox terriers in order for them to run around and find fox holes just like their ancestors did. are there such places, especially on the east coast I could take my dog to? if anybody could help with my request I would greatly appreciate it.
Looking for information for which dog breeds are the most non-aggressive towards children and our other guests. Also can you train aggressiveness out of an Austrailian Shepherd. She is very smart and full of herding characteristics. However she is too aggressive towards children. especially those visiting and those who ride bikes on the street in front of our house. Any suggestions?
We are trying to determine who announces the annual Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show held in New York, Madison Square Gardens. He not only has a great speaking voice, but he also seems to like all the breeds of dog he introduces. Thank you.

I have a four year old male pug that I love dearly. But he's been driving my husband and me nuts all this time with his marking! We have baby gates into our kitchen and he primarily lives in there because every time we let him out he marks. Each time I think he's finally over it I find he's done it again. He lets me know, too, by sniffing out at a later date the areas that he's marked recently whenever I'm in the room he's done it in. (He doesn't mark if I'm nearby) I've read everything I can get my hands on and done everything recommended to me and nothing's worked so far. Our vet's only recommendation is to contact a dog behaviorist which we can't afford. Has anyone else had this problem? Any success stories out there? I hate confining him all the time and would love for him to have the run of the house. He's such a wonderful companion other than the marking. Help!
My significant other has a 3yo sheltie named Nick. While we were dating, Nick, not overly friendly, tolerated and was often happy to see me. Recently we moved in together. Nicks behavior has changed. He is openly defiant when I give him a command. When it is just him and me in the house he runs away at every chance. About 4 months ago I had to discipline him because he attacked a neighbors child. I am getting frustrated because he never shows this behavior when Jill is in the house. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. -E

I would like to help the dog pound in my city . Hence I would like to receive any information that could help the stray dogs here.
I need to know about some puli breeder in the Argentine Republic. Some years ago there were some of them between a hungarian people group who has pure breed dogs non registered. I will appreciate answer this request.
I just read "Smarter Than You Think" by Paul Loeb and Suzanne Hlavacek. Has anyone read this book? I thought it contained some strange ideas and I don't want to start throwing things at my dog until I hear from other people who have read this book and tried the training methods. It also says you should feed your dog canned food instead of dry. Anyone with a comment on this, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks!
Whether or not you want a purebred dog depends highly on the use you plan for your pet. If you are not particular about what qualities the dog has or its behavior then feel free to buy a MUT. They are just as lovable. If you are particular and you want a specific set of characteristics then the registered purebred is the way to go.
