Shepherd quick facts & Info about us

We love this breed but we know it may not be a breed for everyone .Shepherds require individual attention & training and allot of it .These dogs are smart and need mental stimulation ,being thrown in a backyard is not for them .They do best and are better behaved when raised with your family . Human interaction on a daily basis is required . Shepherds do require brushing at least every few days. Shepherds do shed hair especially after winter to get rid of the winter undercoat .Shepherds ,like all breeds , have several known diseases which the breed is known for see links below . Our adults are trained on / off leash and are friendly and out going as a good shepherd should be .Anyone is welcome to visit and receive a hands on , one on one with our dogs . When we are home anyone may pet them , when we are not we dare you to try to break in ! We do not breed for the following ;off the wall drive , dogs that are so ball crazy they can not do anything but focus on the ball or high strung high prey drive dogs ,extreme sport dogs .Those type dogs are great for police ,high level schutzhund sport & serious personal attack dogs or people who are very dog knowledgeable with plenty of time for the dog to give the dog a job .Yes titles are impressive but titled dogs produce drive ,Families do not need nor have the time to own or train a pup from those type lines .Families want a nice pretty Shepherd that can lounge with the family catch a Frisbee for the kids & protect the yard .To us a dog does not have to be a CHAMPION or schH 3 to be the best dog . Some of the best dogs are loving family protectors and playmates for children ,a best friend for the elderly , a handicap assistance dog or search rescue dog -they are Champions in their own right . Not all dogs want to be show or sport dogs , nor do all of them enjoy it. What do you think a dog is happier & having more fun doing out of the following ? being someone's pet or spending each every day spending long hours on a grooming table getting that coat in shape , being constantly groomed , constantly campaigned from show to show , follow this command instantly , do that ASAP .It is not that fun as far as the dogs concerned The thrill is for the owner or handler and their ego ! The dog would much rather play with the kids, sun itself in the grass , chase a squirrel or go for a unpressured walk with real grass under their feet .

We feel the hard work to do this should be our due alone , our own responsibility which we should take pride to do and feel honored to give to them . Our belief is that ,each dog we own is our responsibility completely and each needs to be examined each day by us not a hired outsider who may or may not care personally for each dog nor take the time to do it correctly .We trust no one to care for our dogs as we feel they wouldn't do it as good as we do .If you are a dog lover you understand the statement No one takes care of my dog better than me ! That's how we feel about our adults and puppies here .
